Mapping Dance: The Scores of Anna Halprin

Mapping Dance: The Scores of Anna Halprin will put on display a selection of iconic choreographic scores and performance videos by California dance pioneer Anna Halprin from the collection of the Museum of Performance + Design. Vibrant with colors and elaborate in design, the scores provide essential spatial, temporal and physical instructions for performances Halprin created between 1960s to 2000s and represent a record of her creative activity.
A self-activated participatory Sensory Tour especially created by Ms. Halprin for the occasion will accompany the exhibition and will be made available as a take-away score for the duration of the exhibition. The exhibition will open on March 17, 2016 with an Artist Reception and a new performance of Blank Placard. An Artist Tour and a Curator Tour will be scheduled on April 21 and May 19.
Exhibition curated by Elliot Mercer and Muriel Maffre, MP+D. The exhibition is a programmatic partnership with California Historical Society.
