By Renée Peperone

This documentary invites viewers into the process and performance of “In the Fever of Love,” the second part of a trilogy by Anna Halprin in memory of her late husband, the landscape architect Lawrence Halprin. Celebrating their 70 years of marriage and collaboration, the dance draws on powerful sources, including the Bible’s “Song of Songs,” Lawrence’s wartime love letters and erotic drawings, and compelling performances by Dana and Shinichi Iova-Koga, along with Dohee Lee, on the treasured outdoor dance deck designed for Anna by Lawrence. Filmmaker Renée Peperone crafts an intimate journey through quiet moments of movement, discovery, joy, and collaboration culminating in what Anna describes as “a love story and a healing.”
